First the Tower of London. The Guards Won't Know What Hit It.

After a couple of very long walking days, where we logged over 50,000 steps in 2 days, and were up until around midnight both nights, we decided to give the travellers a break, and let them sleep in. When they awoke they were treated to a breakfast that resembled breakfasts that they were used to. The hotel served a buffet breakfast with eggs, hash browns, bacon, fruit, yogurt, and some breads. Oddly, after several days of breakfast being only breads, many travellers chose to stay away from the bread.

Once breakfast was in the books, we jumped on the Tube (more card issues), and headed to Westminster station. There we met a few tour guides who led us on a walking tour of Westminster. The tour started at the Canadian Memorial in Green Park, where ceremonies commemorating Canadians are held in London. Next, the travellers were taken to many of the main attractions of the city, including; Buckingham Palace, the Parliament and Elizabeth Tower (that is where Big Ben – the bell is located – the tower itself is not Big Ben), and Westminster Abbey.

Once the tours were done, travellers were given some free time in the Trafalgar Square area, where they briefly shopped, and found lunch for themselves. Of course, for many Don’s was once again on the menu.

Now that they were rested and fed, and had seen the main sights in London, we entered the Tower of London. Here travellers were broken into smaller groups, and were able to choose what they wanted to see. For many, the long, Easter weekend lines to see the Crown Jewels were not a deterrent. For others, the Tower itself was the attraction.

Hungry again, the group headed from the Tower of London to a nice restaurant where we were fed some curried chicken and vegetables and rice. We had arrived late, and there was another Canadian group after us, so we ate and ran quickly.

The last stop of the evening was a big hit. The theatre show Kinky Boots. It was a great show, with lots of humour and excellent music. Many a traveller wanted to know where they could buy the boots from the show. Finding the boots weren’t for sale, the travellers were resigned to their regular old walking shoes. We once again fumbled our way onto the Tube, and made our way back to the hotel for the night.
